From the backyard of her family’s home on Tobey Island in Bourne, Cape Cod, the artist captured this scene on the Fourth of July at 8:27 p.m. Using her phone’s zoom lens, she photographed the view with the intention of turning it into a painting.
That evening, the sky glowed with delicate shades of pink. The bridge stood gracefully within the landscape, completing the memorable scene. The work reveals a quiet depth and movement with simplicity.
This painting carries a special meaning for the artist. Looking at it brings back feelings of love, family, and belonging, as that day was spent celebrating with family. It was also the first Fourth of July she shared with her husband’s family, making it an especially meaningful occasion. The memories of that holiday helped her embrace and internalize the feeling that this family had become her family as well.
This painting was the first work created for the Cape Cod Collection and one of the artist’s earliest paintings. It holds special significance as the piece that began a collection inspired by the landscapes, light, and meaningful moments experienced in Cape Cod.
As with all of her work, Vitoria prayed before, during, and after the painting process, asking God to bless her mind and hands as she created the piece.
Once completed, the painting was carefully wrapped and brought to a professional framing studio, where it was framed with the guidance of an experienced framing specialist, just as all the other pieces in the collection were. Please note that, while each piece has been professionally framed, the frames may show light wear from age and storage.
This is a one-of-a-kind original artwork. All sales are final. To ensure the piece remains in good condition, unnecessary handling and transportation are avoided whenever possible.
