Oil on Canvas Panel

This piece is one of Vitoria’s personal favorites. It portrays a view from Monument Beach in Bourne, Cape Cod. The composition captures a sense of movement in the sky, the vibrancy of sunlight reflecting on the water, and the beautiful way the light illuminates the wooden bridge. Vibrant colors were used to capture the natural light and the remarkable sunset experienced at this location.

This painting was created from a photograph taken by Eric Georgeson. Along with capturing the original image, Eric shared a deeply personal reflection: "I took this picture in the Summer of 2021. This was my first summer in Cape Cod in over 20 years since moving to California after college. My family grew up in New Jersey but the highlight of every summer was the few weeks we’d get to spend at the Cape. Catching frogs, riding bikes to the general store for penny candy, fried clams at Colby’s, walking out on the sand bars before the tide came back in. These were magical memories that kept my Mom, Dad, Sister and I coming back every year. They were the kind of memories that stay with you. When my sister and I left for college, my parents bought a house here. Possibly hoping to capture a piece of those golden memories for themselves, perhaps using them as a carrot to lure me and my sister back. Now my sister has 2 children of her own. Their scheme seems to have worked. Here we were again, the Georgeson’s at the beach in Cape Cod with 2 new cast members. Earlier that day, we were on this same beach while the sun was still high in the sky. I showed my nephew how to fly a kite and a few of the other tricks I used to hold sacred. It wasn’t all smooth sailing, he had a breakdown. I had breakdowns when I was his age too. We all do. Just before snapping this picture, I asked my parents if I could borrow their car. The smell of the ocean is different at the Cape than it is out West. Mixed with the smell of fresh cut grass and sea life. I stopped in the parking lot to soak it all in. There was a weed wacker making a racket of a sound, part of the charm I suppose.

At first, I didn’t want to take a picture. I just wanted to enjoy it. And I did for a minute. I thought about how cyclical life is. How important it is to find the things that ground you. How different these summers look now from an adult’s eyes. How exhausting my nephew is. How I wish I still had his energy. As the light faded and the sun got lower, I watched the fisherman on the dock minding his business. Envied his patience for a moment. Finally, I took out my phone and snapped a photo. That one was a keeper. For all the right reasons."

As with all of her work, Vitoria prayed before, during, and after the painting process, asking God to bless her mind and hands as she created the piece.

Once completed, the painting was carefully wrapped and brought to a professional framing studio, where it was framed with the guidance of an experienced framing specialist, just as all the other pieces in the collection were. Please note that, while each piece has been professionally framed, the frames may show light wear from age and storage.

This is a one-of-a-kind original artwork. All sales are final. To ensure the piece remains in good condition, unnecessary handling and transportation are avoided whenever possible.
